IT'S NEW YEAR'S EVE!!
HAPPY NEW YE........wait. We haven't got there yet, couple more hours to go.
Slow Down.
Anyway whether you're interested or not i'm going to swim through what my beloved and I have been blessed with musically in 2010.
Now.
It was hard to choose an order from 10 to 1 but I managed to pull it together (with a few just under the top ten) so let's get started!
10th
Coldplay
It took me 8 years and a wrestle through a CD collection to get to these four men and i'm sorry that it took me so long for me to get to them.
With four studio albums to their name and a fifth in the works for 2011, Coldplay will continue to make history.
9th
Why ninth? The reason for this is a terrible and lazy one. I only got through the whole entire mixtape.....yesterday.
Right.
Why I keep missing talent like this until the last minute I couldn't tell you. His lyrical content is out of this world and I wish this male human all the best in the future because it has to be bright. (Click his name to download the mixtape.)
8th
Professor Green
It's Mr. Green!
Fresh from Hackney....my place of birth (oi oi!), his debut album 'Alive til i'm dead' surprised me to say the least. Cheeky minx flow with the matching neck tattoo, this has been a great year for him musically (not sure about the twitter beef with Wiley though)
Hopefully more to come in 2011 ey?
7th
Tinie Tempah
Oh my. Mr Tempah BLEW me away this year with his debut album 'Discovery'. Track to Track...not one skip. Ever.
With Jungle/ Drum and Bass elements flying everywhere panning from left ear to right he had me hooked.
Tell me you weren't passing out this year?!
Brilliant. Big year for Mr. Tinie (How ironic).
6th
Drake
Drizzy Drake had me singing 'Oh you fancy huh?' every single time I left the nail shop, the hairdressers and after every new purchase.
We all survived the Young Money invasion during 2010 seeing Drake, Nicki Minaj and the rest of the team go on a rampage while Lil Wayne was away.
More singing than rapping but nonetheless it was on repeat for about a month until..........
5th
.......Eminem came out with this.
He did exactly what it said on the tin. Recovered.
Next.
4th
Talib Kweli
Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek (Reflection Eternal), the usual suspects (Mos-Def, Bun B, Jay Electronica) and few new features (J.Cole and Estelle) gave us 'Revolution per Minute'.
Conscious Rap music at its best.
3rd
Shut your mouth.
No.
Jam your hype my friend.
Coming out of the land of Birmingham we have Romo.
Where did I find him? Twitter and I wasn't even looking but very glad that I did.
Considering my ears are used to nothing but music from London or the U.S, I was extremely shocked when I downloaded his mixtape and had a listen.
He's been popping up throughout 2010 and will be making a steady mark in 2011. (Click his name to download the mixtape.)
2nd
J.Cole
MY BABY!
Yes, in my dreams.
Mr. Cole. Graduate and talented musician. Fell in love from the intro and have been in love ever since.
He's been featured in none other than HEAT Magazine. He's here to stay.
His mixtape 'Friday Night lights' has to be one of the best things i've come across this year.
We are getting married.
1st
Kanye West
Just go and buy the album.
I have nothing else to say.
Who missed the top 10?
Janelle Monae - The Archandriod - Due to lack of memory. Brilliant Album.
Bilal - Air Tights Revenge
Diddy Dirty Money - LTTP - Clearly down to the shock of it being good.
J.M.E - Blam!
Miguel - All I Want Is You - Due to late release
Rick Ross - Teflon Don - To this day I still prefer the 'Trilla' Album.
Well.
That's it. Some are missing clearly because I don't remember so far into the year it has gone super fast! Overall it has been a great year musically and i'm looking forward for all the new releases to come!
A big thank you to everyone who had a look at my blog this year, only been taking care of it for the last few weeks and now have over 1,000 views!
What a blog virgin.
More to come from Me, my MacBook, Music and Madness.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
